How long can a job shadowing placement last?

2–10 days.

Which countries can I visit?

All EU Member States and third countries associated with the programme are eligible. Activities must take place in the country where the host organisation is legally established. Each mobility activity may take place in only one country.

How much funding will I receive?

The amount of Erasmus+ funding depends on the type of mobility and various individual factors. The funding usually consists of several components:

Travel expenses
A subsidy is available for travel to and from the event. The amount depends on the distance between the point of departure and the destination, as well as the chosen mode of transport. Environmentally friendly travel options generally receive a higher subsidy.

Personalised support
For the duration of their stay, participants receive a grant towards their living and accommodation costs. The amount of the grant depends on the destination country and the duration of the mobility period. The programme countries are divided into different country groups for this purpose.

Support for inclusion
Participants with fewer opportunities or special needs may be eligible for additional financial support. This is intended to offset any additional individual costs and ensure equal access to the Erasmus+ programme.

The applicable funding rates are set by the Erasmus+ programme and may change between funding periods. We would be happy to provide you with information on the currently available funding options and the funding rates applicable to you as you plan your mobility.

Do I have to find a receiving organisation myself?

As a rule, you do not need to find a host institution yourself. Your sending adult education institution will generally be responsible for selecting a host institution and making contact. We can draw on a network of established partner organisations in various European countries and assess which institution best suits your learning objectives. If you already have a specific institution or organisation in mind, you are, of course, welcome to suggest it. We will then work with you to check whether a mobility placement there is possible under the Erasmus+ programme and whether the institution qualifies as a host organisation.

Who can be a receiving organisation?

Any organisation in an eligible country may act as a host organisation, for example:

  • Schools and adult education centres
  • Civil society organisations, NGOs and voluntary organisations
  • Advice centres, libraries and museums
  • Cultural, community and social centres
  • Organisations working with people with disabilities, older people or those at risk of poverty

The receiving organisation must be legally established in the host country.

What documents do I need to submit?

Before the activity: Learning agreement – between you, the sending organisation and the host organisation, setting out the planned learning outcomes.

Employment or volunteering contract, job description or similar document proving your affiliation with the sending organisation.

After the activity: Europass Mobility Certificate or similar document recognising the learning outcomes.

Those interested can spend a certain period of time teaching at a host institution in another country or delivering training courses for learners, with a view to learning through carrying out their duties and engaging with fellow professionals.

Where can I find suitable courses?

You are generally free to look for a suitable professional development programme or language course. The programme must be reputable, i.e. it should be able to issue the necessary Erasmus+ documents. The programme should also be structured in such a way that its success and the added value for your own professional development are clearly evident. Some providers have tailored their programmes specifically to Erasmus+ placements, meaning that the programmes are usually directly tailored to the funding scheme.

In addition, Erasmus+ staff training programmes have already been successfully carried out with the following providers:
