Promoting ULLL through international cooperation – the role of ULLL networks in Europe on political Level

Abstract

University Lifelong Learning networks act as Communities of Practice and are the organisational frameworks for collaborative work and lobbying. A definition of “Lifelong Learning” on European level and especially “University Lifelong Learning” is offered. Examples of ULLL networks on institutional, regional, national, European and international level are given. Further structures, organisational and legal forms are described and a comparison is being made. The way these networks discuss, share and distribute their themes especially to the policy stakeholders is analysed. Evaluated shall be the real and the potential power of political influence of these ULLL organisations.
