SAMUELE

Self-Assessment Model for Universities embracing Lifelong Learning in Europe

ERASMUS-2024-PCOOP-ENGO

The primary objective of this project is to develop a comprehensive and transnational Self-Assessment Model Framework tailored to the specific context of University Lifelong Learning (ULLL) in European universities. This model will cover key aspects such as different types of provision, strategies to address prejudice and discrimination against disadvantaged groups, the promotion of European and democratic values, civic engagement, and skills development.
SAMUELE will first analyze the current state of ULLL in Europe, then design, test, and implement a self-assessment tool for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to evaluate their approach and strategy. Based on the insights gained from this process, the project will ultimately develop policy recommendations for various decision-making levels. So far, 12 HEIs have joined as associate partners, along with the LLL Platform.

Peer Learning Seminar in Brussels

As part of the SAMUELE project, the peer learning seminar took place in Brussels on 18 June 2025. The SAMUELE partners gained initial insights into the data analysis of the previously conducted survey on the design and implementation of University Lifelong Learning (ULLL) in Europe. The exchange with the students, who contributed their perspectives on the future of lifelong learning, was particularly enriching. Their contributions provide valuable impetus for the further development of lifelong learning in higher education. The partners then came together on 19 June 2025 for a full-partners meeting in presence.

Preliminary Kick-off

On 23 January 2025, eucen organized a preliminary project meeting with the consortium, which gladly participated. This short meeting provided an opportunity for the consortium members to introduce themselves, review the work planned for the 36-month project duration, agree on key internal aspects such as communication and administration, and formally present the project logo and visual identity.
The consortium include: eucen (BE), ESU (BE), Johannes Gutenberg University (DE), Copenhagen Business School (DK), University College Cork (IE), University of Lille (FR), Stifterverband (DE), Station (DK), IRD Duhallow (IE), FCU (FR).
